Privacy Policy
Our Commitment To You
1. Who we are
UPA (“University Polo Argentina”, “we”, “us”) organises and coordinates polo experiences for university students. Our role includes student recruitment, bookings, and coordination of the programme, working with local partners to facilitate the experience.
Our activities primarily relate to travel organisation and the provision of sports and recreational education.
Nature of Our Service
2. Note on the nature of our service
UPA works independently from El Metejon, the estancia in Cañuelas, Argentina, that hosts and delivers the polo programme itself. Our role is limited to recruitment, booking, and coordination: we act as an intermediary connecting university students with El Metejon’s programme.
We do not own, staff, or directly operate any facility, horse, or on-site activity in Argentina. Any data collected in connection with your stay, participation, or on-site experience at El Metejon (for example, medical or dietary information provided directly to the venue) is processed by El Metejon under its own privacy arrangements, rather than by us.
3. Who this policy is for
Our programme is built for university students, typically aged 18–26, interested in playing or spectating polo. This policy, and our site more broadly, is written with that audience in mind. It is not directed at children.
4. What information we collect
We collect only what is necessary to do our job as a booking intermediary:
Name and email address (brochure requests, enquiries, newsletter sign-up)
Phone number, only if you provide one voluntarily (e.g. via WhatsApp)
Booking and programme preference details you submit to us directly
Basic technical data (such as approximate location and browser type) strictly where needed for the site to function
We do not collect payment card details on this site. We do not use behavioural advertising trackers, and we deliberately avoid third-party tools that exist primarily to build advertising profiles.
5. Our legal basis for processing
Consent: for brochure delivery, newsletter communications, and any optional marketing contact. You may withdraw this at any time.
Legitimate interest: for essential website functionality and basic security logging, limited to what is proportionate for a small operation like ours.
Contractual necessity: where processing is required to arrange your booking with El Metejon.
Data Handling & Privacy Rights
6. Our stance on third-party data and tracking
We deliberately minimise our dependence on large third-party data platforms. Where possible, we avoid embedding tools (such as broad Google tracking suites) whose primary purpose is advertising profiling, and we do not sell, rent, or trade your data to any third party for their own marketing purposes. Where a third-party tool is genuinely necessary (for example, our website host, Wix, or an email delivery provider), we limit use to what's operationally required and expect contractual data protection commitments from that provider in return.
7. International data transfer
Because our programme is delivered in Argentina, limited data (such as your name, for booking coordination) may be shared with El Metejon in Argentina. The European Commission has recognised Argentina as providing an adequate level of data protection under EU law, meaning this transfer does not require additional safeguards beyond what GDPR already requires of us as the sender. Where any other transfer outside the EEA becomes necessary, we will only do so under an appropriate legal safeguard.
8. Cookies
Our site may use essential cookies required for basic functionality, and, if enabled, limited analytics cookies to understand aggregate visitor patterns. Non-essential cookies are only set with your prior, freely given consent via our cookie banner, which will offer a genuine choice to reject them, no pre-ticked boxes, no hidden opt-outs. You may withdraw consent at any time through your browser or our cookie settings.
10. Your rights
Under the GDPR and the Dutch Uitvoeringswet AVG (UAVG), you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, restrict or object to certain processing, request data portability, and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@argentinapolo.university.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens), autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl, or with the supervisory authority in your own EU member state if you are not resident in the Netherlands.
11. Children's data
Our programme is intended for university students aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16, the Dutch digital consent age under the UAVG.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our operations evolve. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
